Hardcore/Punk
Drowns In The Atlantic
Bad
Religion, ALL, Civ, Orange 9mm: What do they all have in common?
They
share the same record label with All 4 One and
Stone Temple
Pilots. Atlantic Records seems to have gone on a binge for punk
rock music. However, do these bands have anything to gain by
joining a
major label? Bad Religion left Epitaph to gain more notoriety.
Isn’t
it a shame that the Offspring were able to do in five weeks, what
Bad Religion has been trying to do for the past 10 odd years… gain
popularity through a label that they created.
ALL seems to have gained
no more success then they already had at Cruz Records, and it’s
kind of funny that CIV has become a hit single released by an indie
label, not Atlantic. The question that still needs to be answered
is—was it worth it? I guess only the bands can answer that… on
the way to the bank.
10
Years Later: I'm such a dork. I don't even think ALL was on Atlantic.
I think they were on Interscope. But guess what? Every single one
of those bands were dropped from their respective label. I guess
I wasn't wrong after all.
